This is from the latest UPI wire:
Charlie Sheen's character Charlie Harper is to be
killed off when the U.S. sitcom Two and a Half Men resumes, TMZ reported Monday. The entertainment news Web site said the Season 9 premiere of Men will
show Harper's brother Alan, played by Jon Cryer, and Alan's son Jake, played by Angus T. Jones, as they learn of Harper's death. The script for the season
opener is not finished yet and exactly how Harper will die has not been determined, TMZ said. Sheen was fired this year because of his erratic behavior
and substance abuse, as well as disparaging remarks he made about series creator Chuck Lorre. Ashton Kutcher has signed on to join the cast next season.
I guess this will ensure that Charlie Sheen won't be allowed to try to make nice and beg for his job back, not that he would do that anyway.
I guess it'll be one man, a boy, and a dead drunk guy in a box, now. Strange, that name isn't quite as catchy.
Charlie was the half-man in that show, anyway. How'bout "Three Men In A Tub"?
I may consider watching the premier just for shits and giggles, but as far as I'm concerned the whole show is dead.
I have to agree. Charlie made that show. I don't think it'll be quite the show it was without him.
I thought Ashton Kutcher was replacing Charlie Sheen in that role.
I guess Charlie will be replaced, maybe by a cousin or something? This is almost like waiting to find out who shot J.R. Anyone remember that summer?
How could I forget it?! I even still remember who shot him. Once that was over, I ceased watching the show.
Ashton will be a totally new character. He will not be cast as Charlie Harper. And that wouldn't even make sense since Ashton is at least 15 years younger than Charlie. I haven't yet heard exactly how Ashton will fit into the cast, but like the article I quoted said, the first script hasn't even been finished yet.
This seems like a shot in the dark to enable a very popular sitcom to continue. There's not much to lose and on the off chance this works everything to gain. I'm not a big fan of the show but I hope this works out as a kind of screw you Charley Shene.
